Below is an overview of the Day Camp positions for 2018.

Counselling Positions

Counselors for Primary, Junior, Intermediate, Sophomore and Senior Divisions

Responsible for the safety,fun, and skill development of a group of campers. Counselors work in pairs with a group of 10 to 20 campers depending on the age group of the camper.

Inclusion Counselors

Responsible for integrating campers with special needs into a group of their peers. Campers in this program are between the ages of 4 and 13 years. Campers involved in our program have needs related to Autism, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome and behavioural difficulties. Counsellors interested in applying for these positions should have previous experience working with children and a desire to pursue Special Needs education in the future.

Support Staff Positions

Staff Coordinator

Responsible for all staff relations, training, evaluating, scheduling and communications and payroll. Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership experience are an asset. This is a 14 week contract, applicants must be available to work full-time for the entire summer.

Program Coordinator

Responsible for all program activity areas, program budgets, and program staff. This position supervises all program staff and the camp spirit positions. This position also includes purchasing of supplies and the person in this role will need access to a car (mileage is paid).

Inclusion Coordinator

Responsible for supporting and training the inclusion counsellors. Campers in the inclusion program are between the ages of 4 and 13 years and have needs related to Autism, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome and behavioural difficulties. Persons interested in applying for this position should have previous experience working with special needs children in a camp environment and a desire to pursue Special Needs education in the future

Waterfront Coordinator

Responsible for the operation of the pools (2) and the canoe pond - must have current certifications (First Aid, CPR, Bronze Cross, NLS, Instructors). Previous employment at a lifeguard is required. Must be available to work the entire summer.

Health Care Coordinator .

Responsible for all health care at camp (campers and staff) and the operation of the First Aid Centre. Must have current certifications (First Aid, CPR). Certification and/or post secondary education as an RN or RPN is considered a significant asset.

Program Leadership Positions

Responsible for Campers ages 4-7 well being at camp. This role provides support to all campers who are in the regular camp program who are having challenges in fully participating in the camp program. Some communication with parents are a part of this role. Assists with planning of Special events for the Division. Experience working with children and an understanding of a variety of strategies for children who are not adjusting well to camp. Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership experience are an asset.

Intermediate, Sophomore, Senior Divisions Coordinator

Responsible for Campers ages 8-13 well being at camp. This role provides support to all campers who are in the regular camp program who are having challenges in fully participating in the camp program. Some communication with parents are a part of this role. Assists with planning special events for the division. Experience working with children and an understanding of a variety of strategies for children who are not adjusting well to camp. Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership experience are an asset.

Counsellor In Training (CIT) Leader

Responsible for the design and implementation of the Counsellor in Training program (15 year old campers). Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership experience are an asset. A minimum of 3 year previous work experience as a camp counsellor is required. Must be available to work the entire summer.

Leader in Training (LIT) Leader

Responsible for the design and implementation of the Leader in Training program (14 year old campers).Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership experience are an asset. A minimum of 3 year previous work experience as a camp counsellor is required. Must be available to work the entire summer.

Communications Coordinator

Responsible for daily social media and website updates, composing and sending weekly parent communication emails and newsletters, taking weekly camp photos, creating multimedia presentations, videos and more! Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills required. Technical and graphic design, excellent interpersonal skills and leadership experience are considered a strong asset. Must be available to work the entire summer.

Camp Spirit Coordinators (two positions)

Responsible for putting the "wow" into camp. Duties include coordinating special events, tuck time and overnight programming. These positions also assist in climbing, biking, and/or archery as needed and give support to Field Trip groups.

Program Instructor Positions

Aquatic Staff:

Responsible for life guarding and teaching Red Cross Swim at Camp lessons daily to campers aged 4 - 15 years (includes campers with Special Needs). Applicants must have current qualifications in First Aid, CPR, NLS and/or Red Cross Instructors. Applicants must be available to take 4-6 aftercare guarding shifts and weekend guarding shifts.

Peace Instructor

Responsible for the design and implementation of the Peace & Social Justice program. Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership experience are an asset. Applicants must display confidence in teaching, enthusiasm for non-violent problem solving, and interests in sustainability and world issues. Education in the area of Peace and Conflict resolution is considered a serious asset. This is a 12 week contract, applicants must be available to work full-time for duration of the contract.

Nature Instructor

Responsible for designing and implementing a Nature program twice a week for campers aged 4 to 13 years and offering a daily wilderness adventure workshop for the campers who sign up for this workshop choice.

This is a 16 week contract with precamp hours in the Outdoor Education program and in curriculum planning.

Arts and Crafts Instructor

Responsible for designing and implementing an Arts & Crafts program twice weekly for campers aged 4 - 13 years and delivering a workshop session daily for the campers who sign up for the A&C workshop.

Climbing Instructors

Responsible for implementing a Climbing/Bouldering program twice weekly for campers aged 4 - 15 years. Must be willing to be trained in Climbing Gym safety/procedures, as well as a Belaying course. The climbing staff also assist with archery and biking as needed.

Canoe Instructor

Plan, organize, and implement quality canoeing/kayaking lessons, skills, and drills for campers aged 8 -13 years of age. Ensure safe canoeing practices by both staff and campers. Work cooperatively with the Waterfront Director by actively assisting in the swim program and other waterfront activities. Applicants must have current qualifications in First Aid, CPR, and Bronze Cross.

Wagon Driver

This position needs to be a licensed driver and have the ability to safely drive a tractor to give campers and field trip groups wagon rides around the farm. This position will also assist with camp maintenance.
